Vanessa was presented with the rank of Chevalier (Knight) in the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Minister for Culture today. The Order of Arts and Letters recognizes artists, writers, and people who have contributed significantly to furthering the arts in France and throughout the world. This Order consists of three ranks: Chevalier, Officier, and Commandeur. Recipients must by at least 30 years of age to become a Chevalier. Johnny Depp, Lily-Rose, Jack, Vanessas parents, and sister attended the ceremony where Vanessa was presented with a certificate and medal by the minister.
iTunes is now offering songs in the U.S. from two of Vanessa's albums: her self-titled album in English, and her first live album.
Vanessa fans in the U.K. can now buy Divinidylle in their favorite record store thanks to Wrasse Records, which is distributing the CD there. Wrasse is best known for distributing World Music in the U.K. Several publications have reviewed the CD, including The Times, which put it on their holiday shopping list.
There is a two-page feature on Vanessa in the January issue of Elle (Dutch) magazine. The feature includes photos.
Vanessa appeared via telephone Saturday, December 15 on the Dermot OLeary show on BBC Radio 2. The interview, done in English, was in promotion of the release of Divinidylle in the U.K. At the link below, under "Listen Again - December 15" in the upper right side of the page, click on "Hear the Whole Show" and the show begins - Vanessa's short interview is about 15 minutes into the show. She says that she's planning to spend Christmas in the snow near the Alps. At the end of the interview, they play the title song from her new CD. Vanessas Divinidylle is nominated for an NRJ award in the Best (French) Album of the Year category. There are 13 categories of awards in all with the winners decided by online voting. The awards will be handed out on January 26 in Cannes and televised on TF1.
According to Le Film Franais, Vanessa and Michael Madsen have been cast in the new film, Sage Femme. Filming will begin in April in New York with a September 2008 release. The director is Mabrouk El Mechri.
{She starts filming in April in NY and Johnny is supposed to start filming in March for "Public Enemy" in Chicago and possibly some scenes in Wisconsin. In the past, they normally haven't taken film projects at the same time.}
