Julian Schnabel has recently released a controversial film called Miral that stars Freida Pinto as an orphan growing up in the battles over the Israeli-Palestinian border.  Because of the subject matter, the film created controversy from the beginning particularly when a number of Jewish groups asked the UN not to show it during a planned screening.  In addition, the film's star, Juliano Mer-Khamis, was recently murdered adding to the controversy.

In a new advertisement for the film in the Los Angeles Times, both Johnny Depp and Javier Bardem have given their support for the film as an outstanding piece of work from Schnabel.  As you know, both Johnny and Javier worked together with Schnabel as the director in Before Night Falls.
