Holmen man gets his car in Hollywood movie

HOLMEN, Wisconsin (WXOW) - A Holmen man gets to spend some time with a famous Hollywood star-thanks to his antique automobile. Stephen Keyser and his two 1930's vintage autos were used on the set of the upcoming movie Public Enemies starring Johnny Depp as John Dillinger. Much of the movie was shot around Wisconsin from March until June. Keyser answered an e-mail Universal Studios sent out to collector clubs around the state looking for cars for the production. In fact, not long after Keyser arrived, his 1933 Oldsmobile was singled out for a big scene. "This was being used as a background car. Director Michael Mann liked the looks of this particular automobile-he made arrangements with me to use it in a scene where Johnny Depp actually drives this car, " says Keyser. He took a picture of Depp with the the car while on set. Keyser says he and his wife Jeanne were treated very well during filming. They even got to chat with Depp. There were long days and lots of waiting, Keyser says, but it was interesting watching the movie being made. Besides his Oldsmobile, which Keyser says is one of only two known to exist, he also brought a 1932 Nash to the set. That vehicle was used only as a background car in the production.

You'll be able to see the scene where Depp drives Keyser's car when Public Enemies is released next July. Besides Depp, it also stars Christian Bale of Batman fame.
